Dessert Riding in Arizona

My good friends Greg and Etta from Casa Grande, AR invited me to join them in Salome Arizona  to ride the mountain ranges between Salome, Hope and Parker Arizona. I decided to accept their invitation

On my way to Salome, I decided to make a stop in Davis, California to visit Kim’s sister ( Jan) and her husband (Bill). Weather was perfect, so it was a great place for a stop-over.

Took me 4 days to reach Salome, AZ.  Big surprise upon arriving , 7 other rigs with 13 people were included in the group.  Was a great opportunity to make new friends, some of which  I ended up spending my  2019 Adventure with.

Was able to get in 7 days of exploring the area. After our daily rides, we would gather around for social hour, which included many stories of our experiences, then it was on to a group dinner. Great event.

The terrain was totally different from what I'm use to. No trees, no lakes, no mountains (only hills) and no snow, however the scenery was still magnificent with lots of cactus and various shrubs. Best part was making new friends.

                     Exploring old abandoned mines.

Headed back to Whidbey Island, Washington.  During my transits, I usually stay overnight at truck stops, perfect place, to gas up, eat dinner and breakfast.

Time to depart Salome, Arizona, load up the quad and head back to Oak Harbor, Washington. Checked the road conditions. Looks like the Siskiyou Pass just below the Oregon border will be a challenge.  The pass got hit with snow today.  I will be going through there on Saturday, so I how it clears up. Good thing I packed my chains.
