2016 Off Road Adventure - MacKay, Idaho ( Elevation 5,906)

16th & 17th day(Sunday, July 3rd & Monday, July 4th)  Departed Marysvale, Utah after breakfast.  Plan was to stop for a few days in Brigham City, Utah. Couldn’t find a RV camping spot so I forged ahead to McCammon, Idaho.

On the 4th I decided to take my recumbent bike to visit the Lava Hot Springs http://www.lavahotsprings.com then I saw a sign that said 22 miles to the hot springs (according to my math, that’s 44 miles round trip), I quickly re-routed myself to McCammon and visited the town. Did 10 miles, that was enough, was getting a little warm for me 84° at 11am
Hwy 15 north, lonely road          Was an easy drive, no hill climbing

Great view from my camping spot            Good looking set of wheels

19th through 23rd day (Tuesday, July 5th through Saturday, July 9th) Arrived Mackay, Idaho (population 494) http://mackayidaho-city.com/about-us.html on the 5th, set up camp and immediately took to the trails.  A couple  (Al and Deb) that I met at Fillmore, UT joined me in Mackay so I had someone to ride with. I also hooked up with 2 other couples (Bruce & Kerstin and Mel & Terri) from Ogden Utah.  The official Rally In The Pines http://www. lostriverrally.com started on the 8th of July, so we had plenty of time to explore and take pictures on our own.

This trail was called " Top of The World"

          Deb and Al, from Georgia

Bottom Left: Deb, Kerstin,Bruce. Bottom right: Al, Terri and Mel.  All three couples are going to join me in Manti for the Manti Mountain ATV Run in mid August.

On our Saturday ride, one of the sponsoring vendors served us a Bratwurst sausage, chip and potato salad lunch up in the mountains.  We drove a little over 40 miles to get there and again the landscape was amazing.

                                              Picnic in the mountains

My body is still holding out. My RZR 800 Quad is showing a little pain. I have been riding it fairly hard. Going to get some repair work done in Idaho Falls, Idaho and on my way to Bayfield, Colorado I will have some more preventive maintenance done in Durango.

This week I clocked another 410 dirt miles. It goes without saying I had another wonderful week.

24th day (Sunday, July 10th)  Departed Mackay, Idaho, drove to Ririe Reservoir, Idaho, near Idaho Falls http://www.co.bonneville.id.us/index.php/parks-and-recreation/summer-recreation. A big thunder and lighting storm just passed through, in addition to 40 mile hour winds.  After I had dinner, the Camp Host (Howard Hill) took me for a tour of the facilities at the Ririe Dam park/recreation area, which was truly enjoyable.
